Accor has been a pioneer in sustainable hospitality for over 30 years, shaping the future of travel by integrating sustainability across all aspects of hotel operations.
As part of Accor’s global Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy, Hôtel des Arts Saigon is dedicated to creating a positive impact for the planet, our people, and our guests.
We are proud to be recognized as Green Globe Certified since December 2024—the global leader in sustainable tourism certification. This achievement reflects our team's continuous efforts in integrating sustainability into every aspect of our hotel operations.
We have implemented a comprehensive Sustainability Management Plan that addresses environmental, sociocultural, quality, health, and safety concerns. This plan extends across all hotel activities, from guest rooms to dining outlets, spa, and beyond—engaging our Heartists, guests, and business partners in our journey.
1. Resource Management: Energy and Water Efficiency
- In 2024, we replaced 80% of the hotel’s lighting with LED bulbs, reducing electricity consumption per occupied room (OCC) by 3% compared to the previous year.
- Upgraded office equipment to energy-efficient models.
- Encouraged guests to help reduce water usage by reusing towels, bed linen, and toiletries during their stay. Towels placed on the floor indicate a request for new supplies, while towels hung on racks are not replaced.
2. Eliminating Single-Use Plastics
We have fully eliminated single-use plastics from our operations:
- Guest rooms feature reusable glass water bottles and paper water cartons for takeaway.
- In-room amenities are single-use plastic-free and provided in refillable containers.
Our commitment extends to non-guest-facing areas:
- Partnered with suppliers to replace disposable egg cartons with reusable trays.
- Transitioned from single-use plastic laundry bags to reusable linen bags.
- Adopted reusable silicone molds and baking sheets in our kitchens.
3. Sustainable Food and Beverage Practices
Our culinary team embraces sustainability in the food chain by:
- Increasing the local sourcing of ingredients to support regional farmers and reduce the carbon footprint of our supply chain
- Reducing food waste through Winnow Solutions, which tracks and analyzes food waste. Our goal is to achieve a 10% reduction in food waste by 2025.
- Participating in food donation programs to minimize surplus waste.
- Promoting responsible consumption through guest engagement initiatives.
1. Supporting Meaningful Community Programs
We actively partner with local organizations to make a positive impact in our community.
One example is our Art Auction Dinner, held during the closing of our legacy outlet, Social Club Restaurant.
- Over VND 50 million in profits from the event was donated to Little Warm Roses Shelter, an NGO supporting underprivileged girls from rural areas.
- The donation helps fund school scholarships, accommodation upgrades, and skills training programs for the children in 2025.
2. Celebrating Cultural Heritage
We embrace and showcase the rich cultural heritage of Vietnam:
Local art, architecture, and traditional elements are integrated into our design, décor, and culinary offerings, creating an immersive experience that connects guests with the local community.
We provide comprehensive sustainability training for all our Heartists, sharing best practices in energy conservation, waste reduction, and sustainable hospitality initiatives.
We empower our team to make a difference, both within the hotel and in their personal lives.
